We had been about to leave for a week-long tour in March of 2020 when the pandemic rolled in and show after show got cancelled until the whole thing fell apart. And then we didn't play or see each other for a while. And then we hung up sheets of plastic in the basement where we practice so we could each play inside of our own little isolated zone. Which was kind of wonderful because we were playing music together and kind of terrible because we could hardly see or hear each other and the music was...a struggle.
And then things started coming back and we started playing without the plastic isolation zones and started playing shows again. Branic Howard of Open Field Recording has always been such a generous supporter of our music and once again recorded us live at the Portland Garment Factory- but this time at a new, bigger and beautifuller PGF - the old one was a victim of arson.
We asked Erika Warhus (www.erikawarhus.com) if she had any paintings around she didn't know what to do with and we might use for the cover art. Instead she asked for the tracks and painted several pieces to the music. We chose the one she titled Waking (Part 6).
Thanks to everyone who has been coming to shows and joining us in the experience of spontaneous music making. Special thanks to Erika and Branic for helping make this happen. We are so fortunate to have such wildly talented people support us.
