Halfbird became a band at 5736 N. Greeley in Portland in 2014. Grant lived there and we practiced in the living room. This is where we started to work out how to play music together and where we became friends. Some really good friends and amazing musicians lived there over the years. And the Barlow, one of the best dive bars in Portland, was (and still is) just down the street. We spent just as much time hanging at the Barlow, running into friends, talking about music and ourselves, as we did practicing at Grant's.
Grant eventually moved out and the house was torn down. But before that happened Toby and TJ recorded us for a split tape with The Social Stomach that we were going to release for a west coast tour through California in March of 2020. Instead, we're releasing it on its own in July 2023 for a tour to Canada.
Super big thanks to TJ and Toby, Brian for the tape art, all of the very patient housemates at 5736 who let us make so much noise in their house and to our friends and family who support our music.
